Costs of healthcare and transport across Georgia decreased in September and rose for housing, water, electricity, gas and various goods and services, the latest inflation data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia on Tuesday shows.
Costs for healthcare decreased by 4.7 percent, falling by 14.1 percent for the subgroup of medical products, equipment and devices. Outpatient medical service costs increased by 11.7 percent and hospital services by 8.9 percent.
Transport costs decreased by 4.3 percent, while those for operation of personal vehicles dropped by 8.0 percent. The figures for transport services increased by 3.5 percent, and the numbers for purchase of vehicles by 1.8 percent.
Costs for goods and services in September increased by 10.0 percent, with a 6.0 percent increase for alcoholic beverages and 5.3 percent for tobacco products.

While annual inflation in Georgia has “passed the peak” and is on a downward trend, the country’s National Bank will pursue a “tight monetary policy” throughout the year to “reduce the risk of rising inflationary expectations” in the medium term, the Bank announced on Wednesday.
Prices of certain food products and non-alcoholic beverages decreased month-on-month in Georgia in June, while prices of transport, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased, the latest inflation data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia on Monday shows.
The National Bank of Georgia on Wednesday announced a “gradual exit” from its tight monetary policy, as it decreased the refinancing rate by 0.5 percent, to 10.50 percent, following a reduction in the domestic inflation rate.
The National Bank of Georgia on Wednesday said even though inflation was “still high” in the country, the trends were following a “downward trajectory”, with the numbers expected to remain below the “target level” in the second half of the year.
The National Bank of Georgia on Wednesday said the consumer price index across the country increased in September by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 0.7 percent, adding that total inflation would remain “significantly lower” than the three percent target rate in October.
Cost of transport, clothing, footwear, alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased in Georgia to influence the October inflation rate, which posted a 0.6 percent month-on-month increase, the National Statistics Office of Georgia on Friday said.
The National Bank of Georgia on Monday said gradual decreases in international food prices and maintenance of its strict monetary policy had led to a “low” domestic inflation rate.
