Prosecutor General, Syracuse University discuss jury trials for justice development

Georgia’s Prosecutor General Irakli Shotadze on Monday discussed his office’s work for strengthening independence of the jury trial system with James Baker, the Director of the Institute of Security Policy and Law of the Syracuse University of the United States, and Andrew Horsfall, the Deputy Dean of the University’s Law School.

The two sides discussed the process for strengthening jury trials in the context of the development of Georgia’s justice system, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia said.

Shotadze told the visiting University representatives about the reforms and priority directions of the Prosecutor’s Office.

On their part, Baker and Horsfall highlighted the role of the jury trial institution in the development of the justice system, with the parties pledging readiness to continue cooperation over the topic.
