Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and László Kövér, the President of the National Assembly of Hungary, on Monday discussed priority areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in a meeting held as part of the latter’s official visit to Georgia.

The Ministry of Economy of Georgia cited Davitashvili as saying his Government was ready to continue the process of rapprochement with European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

The Hungarian delegation once again pointed out that Hungary is ready to share its experience with Georgia and to support Georgia's accession to the European Union”, said the Ministry.

The body said the officials praised cooperation on “strategic” initiatives including the Black Sea submarine electricity cable project that aims to connect the energy system of the South Caucasus to the European Union through Georgia.

The meeting also noted operations of the Hungarian airline Wizz Air in Georgia, with the sides noting the company’s plans to station its fourth passenger jet at western Georgia's Kutaisi International Airport in December.
