Finance Minister, new Dutch Ambassador discuss bilateral relations

Bilateral relations between Georgia and the Netherlands were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Meline Arakelian, the new Ambassador of the Netherlands to Georgia.
Khutsishvili expressed his gratitude towards Arakelian for “active support” provided to Georgia in infrastructure, agriculture, financial services, environmental protection, public finance management and other areas.
The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on her new position and said he hoped the partnership between the two countries would continue and deepen.
Ekaterine Guntsadze, the Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, was also involved in the meeting.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday hosted Meline Arakelian, the new Ambassador of the Netherlands to Georgia, and discussed the “dynamically developing” bilateral ties and his country’s European integration prospects ahead of the European Union’s forthcoming decisions on Georgia's candidate status later this year.
Relations between Georgia and the Netherlands, as well as the process of the former’s European integration were discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and the newly appointed Dutch Ambassador Meline Arakelian.
Meline Arakelian, the newly appointed Dutch Ambassador to Georgia, on Friday presented her letter of credence to the Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili to formally start the diplomat’s stint in the country.
Wopke Hoekstra, the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, on Tuesday announced his Government would allocate €8 million to further strengthen defence capabilities of Georgia, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Netherlands was Georgia's major foreign direct investor country in the first quarter of this year with $239.6 million, followed by Japan with $63.2 million and the United States with $54.7 million, the National Statistics Office of Georgia reported in its latest figures on Friday.
