Roads Department: 78 units of heavy equipment involved in disaster relief operations in Shovi following landslide

The Roads Department of Georgia on Sunday said 78 units of heavy equipment continued working in the search and clearing operation of the disaster-affected zone in the western municipality of Oni, after a landslide killed at least 18 in the Shovi resort on Thursday.

The Department noted the works were underway at seven priority locations determined by the Emergency Management Service.

 

The works of forming the riverbed and arranging the alternative access roads to the disaster area are also underway near a temporary bridge, which was installed on Saturday to access the epicentre of the disaster, the body noted.
