Georgian Agriculture Minister Otar Shamugia on Monday said the cooperation between Georgia and China had moved to a “new, extremely high level”.
Shamugia highlighted the joint communiqué on the strengthening of strategic partnership between the two countries, released on Monday, included deepening of cooperation in both political and economic directions.
He said representatives from both the Georgian and Chinese business communities, as well as companies that produce wine and have long-standing relationships with the Chinese market, had attended the China-Georgia Business Forum in Beijing, hosted as part of the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's visit to the country.
The Minister said the Government was "actively working" to promote Georgian wine to the Chinese market, with four million litres exported annually. He also noted the new developments between the countries would "significantly increase" exports of wine and other products to the Chinese market while the Government would continue “active work” to increase this year's exports.
