Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday visited Chinese multinational technology corporation Huawei’s demonstration centre in Beijing as part of his visit to China, with Liang Hua, the Chair of Huawei Technologies.
Garibashvili and Hua discussed the prospects of cooperation between Georgia and Huawei in various fields, with Hua providing a global overview to the PM on Huawei’s activities and its 15-year work in Georgia, the Government Administration said.

The Huawei chair praised the Broadband Infrastructure Development Strategy in Georgia for 2020-2025 and highlighted the latest digitisation trends, such as smart ports and digital energy.
Hua expressed interest in supporting Georgia's recent long-term national strategy for the development of digital economy and information society, along with its implementation plan, and emphasised the importance of contributing to Georgia's “ambitions" to create digital, transport, logistics and clean energy regional hubs connecting Asia and Europe.

A dinner was held in honour of the Head of the Government after the tour.
Yuyan Xueyuan, the President of the Beijing Language and Culture University, on Sunday said the first visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and his delegation to China after the establishment of the University would “surely go down in history” of the BLCU and would become an important stage in the promotion of China-Georgia friendship.
Vice Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Education WU Yan on Sunday said China “attributed a great importance” to the development of educational cooperation and exchange programmes with Georgia, at the unveiling ceremony of Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli’s bust at the Beijing University of Language and Culture.
The main directions of the cooperation agenda between Georgia and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank were discussed on Sunday by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Jin Liqun, the President of the AIIB, at the meeting in China’s capital city of Beijing.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday “sincerely” thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping, his Government and the representatives of the Beijing University of Language and Culture for recognising 12th-century Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli’s achievements in world literature and said unveiling Rustaveli's bust at University was “a great opportunity to highlight Georgia’s heritage”.
