Commercial banks in Georgia loaned ₾47.33 billion ($18.244 bln) and received deposits of ₾46.79 billion ($18.036 bln) in June, the latest data from the National Bank of Georgia shows.
The volume of loans increased by 3.50 percent compared to the previous month, while the number of deposits increased by 2.88 percent month-on-month.
In June, the volume of term deposits decreased by 0.01 percent, while on-demand deposits increased by 4.74 percent, the NBG also said.
Loans taken out in the national currency amounted to ₾7.63 billion ($2.941 bln), while loans in foreign currencies constituted ₾13.17 billion ($5.076 bln).
In other figures, the total assets of Georgian commercial banks increased by 3.2 percent and constituted ₾69.9 billion ($26,944 bln).
There were 15 commercial banks - 13 of them foreign-owned entities - operating in the country as of the end of June.
