Revaz Javelidze, the Head of the Administration of the Georgian Government, on Friday noted the Government’s goal of establishing a “sustainable public service” in the country, in comments for an event dedicated to the United Nations Public Service Day.

The event, titled Sustainable Public Service: Career and Professional Development, brought together public officials in panel discussions on “career and professional development”, the Government Administration said.

In his comments, Javelidze said the envisioned service would be adapted to “modern challenges and needs”, and added the Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, was “actively” working to “ensure the well-being of civil servants”.

The Government Administration also cited the official as thanking the United Kingdom, the United Nations Development Programme, the European Union and other partners for their “important assistance” in the development of public service in the country.

The event was organised by the Public Service Bureau of Georgia and supported by the UNDP and the UK Aid programme of the British Government.
