Parliamentary ties in focus of meeting between Georgian FM, top Swiss lawmaker

Cooperation between Georgia and Switzerland, including ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries, was discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Martin Candinas, the President of the National Council of Switzerland.
Darchiashvili noted his ongoing visit to Switzerland “once again” emphasised the “excellent” relations between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral format, the Georgian foreign office said.

The top Georgian diplomat extended his gratitude to Candinas for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
The officials also reviewed the “difficult” security environment created in the region, Russia's war in Ukraine and the importance of the support of the international community for the latter.
Ilia Darchiashvili, the Georgian Foreign Minister, and his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis on Monday discussed bilateral ties and existing “fruitful cooperation” between their states during the Georgian official’s first official visit to Switzerland.
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and Helene Budliger Artieda, the State Secretary for Economic Affairs of Switzerland on Thursday discussed economic ties and the increase by 30 percent in trade turnover between the two countries in 2022.
Relations between Georgia and Switzerland and cooperation across a “broad spectrum of mutual priorities” were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Irène Kälin, the president of the national council of Switzerland.
