Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday extended his congratulations to incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on winning the country’s Presidential election runoff earlier during the day.
In his social media post, the head of the Georgian Government said Erdoğan’s victory was “convincing” and said his office was “eager to further enhance the bonds of friendship and strategic partnership” between the two countries.

With 99.43 percent of the vote counted by Turkey’s Supreme Election Council, Erdoğan received 52.14 percent of the vote, against his opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s 47.86 percent.
By winning the race, he has stretched his rule into the third decade.
In the first round of elections on May 14, Erdoğan received 49.5 percent of the vote to Kılıçdaroğlu’s 44.9 percent.
