Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday said the Georgian Government was acting for the “sole purpose” of “protecting and pursuing the national interests” of the country.
Kobakhidze told Imedi TV in an interview “the main thing” in evaluating the Government’s policies was “not assessments but the reality”, and added protection of national interests was the “starting point” of the ruling team.
He also pointed out the principal objective for the Government was to “be careful” and pursue policies for the purpose.
The main thing is to be careful, the main thing is to make policies that are in the national interest of our country. This is our main task and we will pursue this goal this year as well”, he concluded.
Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee, on Wednesday said the Georgian Government had stated “very clearly” and “from the beginning” its position on support for Ukraine “in everything” except transfer of weapons to the country amid its defence from the ongoing Russian invasion.
