Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines will carry passengers from eight Kazakh cities to Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi starting next month, the regional Ministry of Finance and Economy of Adjara said on Tuesday.
The news was revealed as Minister Jaba Putkaradze met representatives of the airline, with the flights set to start on June 10.
Putkaradze also met Kazakhstani journalists to introduce them to the dynamics of the post-pandemic recovery of the tourism sector of Georgia and the Adjara region. The visiting media professionals will produce promotional articles on the country for Kazakhstani-language online platforms following their trip to Georgia.
The number of international visits to Adjara have recovered by 82 percent compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019, while also marking a 178 percent increase year-on-year, the Ministry said.
