EU Ambassador highlights Georgia’s “historic opportunity” for membership in Europe Day message

Pawel Herczynski, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Tuesday highlighted Georgia’s “historic opportunity” to obtain the bloc’s membership candidate status by the end of this year, and eventually become its member, in his message for the annual Europe Day celebrations in the country.
In a video recorded in the Georgian language, the diplomat noted the country was marking the date for the first time since being granted a European perspective last year, which he described as a “great success”.
He also said gaining the EU membership candidate status would bring Georgia closer to membership, adding it was a “historic opportunity to become a member of a united, safe and strong European family”.
Herczynski also noted the country’s EU integration was supported by the “vast majority” of Georgia’s population.
Pawel Herczynski, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Sunday said receiving the European Union membership candidate status was the next stage in the country’s integration process and would bring it “even closer” to membership of the bloc.

The latest assistance measure adopted by the Council of the European Union for the Georgian Defence Forces was discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and the bloc’s Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski.
The Council of the European Union on Thursday adopted two assistance measures under the European Peace Facility in support of the Armed Forces of Moldova and the Georgian Defence Forces to enhance “national security, stability and resilience” in both countries.
Cooperation between Georgia and Germany and the country’s European integration process were discussed in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Tobias Lindner, the Minister of State at the German Foreign Office.
Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Georgia's Ambassador to the European Union, on Tuesday said the country’s Government was working to “open all doors” to get “as close as possible” to the bloc, in a meeting of ambassadors of Georgia to EU member states in Berlin.
Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Thursday said the Italian Government had pledged support for her country’s authorities in their implementation of the conditions outlined by the European Union last year for granting its membership candidate status to Georgia.
