Central Eurasia Venture Summit discusses investment market in Tbilisi

Investors and ecosystem builders from Central Eurasia, Czech Republic, Mongolia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom discussed trends in the venture investment market at a summit dedicated to the topic in Tbilisi between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over 20 regional venture funds featured in the Summit supported by the National Bank of Georgia, with NBG representative Ana Khinchiashvili detailing reforms implemented by the central bank.

She told participants of the event the investment funds sector in Georgia was at an early stage of development, while noting prospects for its development.

Khinchiashvili noted the 2020-approved Law on Investment Funds in the country, followed by the National Bank’s approval of five investment funds and licensing of four asset management companies.

She said operations through the Georgia-based funds for the purpose of investing in regional markets was “one of the goals for the next stage of development” of the domestic sector.
