Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili on Friday said his Government’s efforts in enforcing international sanctions imposed on Russia for its ongoing invasion of Ukraine had been “praised at all meetings” with financial organisations hosted as part of his official visit to the United States this week.
From the side of our partners, there were never any question marks regarding the enforcement of sanctions by Georgia. In this regard, the efforts carried out by Georgia [...] received only positive evaluation at all meetings”, Khutsishvili said on his social media following the meetings with the World Bank and the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund.
He also said the Government had “strong support” from international financial institutions and “partner countries”.
The financial organisations “positively evaluated” steps taken by the Georgian Government for macroeconomic stability and fiscal discipline, he added.
Khutsishvili also said Georgia was one of the “rare exceptions in the world” with its double-digit economic growth over the last two years, a “sharp reduction” in the budget deficit, reduction in the level of Government debt and inflation, and improvement in its account deficit.
