Georgian President meets Swedish Crown Princess

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Wednesday received the Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi.
The visit forms part of the programme of Sweden’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
It is seen to be underscoring the importance of the EU Civilian Crisis Management and reinforcing its civilian missions, which form priorities for the country’s Presidency.
The Swedish Embassy noted the Crown Princess also wished to highlight the “long-standing friendship and partnership between our countries and peoples” by visiting Georgia.
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden will visit Georgia from Wednesday to Thursday, meeting Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and the European Union Monitoring Mission in the country, the Swedish Embassy has said.
The ongoing reforms within the Georgian Justice Ministry were discussed on Tuesday by Justice Minister Rati Bregadze and Co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The implementation of reforms for meeting the European Union conditions for granting Georgia its membership candidate status was discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The cooperation between Georgia and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the agenda of democratic reforms carried out in the country were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee.
Charlie Flanagan, the Chair of the Irish Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, on Tuesday said the future of Georgia lay “firmly” in the “European Union family”.
