The process of fulfilling the European Union conditions for granting Georgia its membership candidate status was discussed on Wednesday by members of the Parliamentary faction of the ruling Georgian Dream party and the delegation of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Irakli Chikovani, the Deputy Chair of the Georgian Dream faction and Maka Botchorishvili, the EU Integration Committee Chair briefed the delegation on the legislative initiatives implemented for the fulfilment of the conditions, the Georgian Parliament press office said.

Chikovani emphasised the Parliament would take into consideration the recommendations of the Council of Europe's Venice Commission on “various laws”, including the deoligarchisation bill and judicial reform.

The PACE delegation also discussed the implementation of the EU recommendations with the members of the Parliamentary opposition and independent MPs.
