Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday said Georgia-Russia relations were limited to “one international platform” in the form of the Geneva International Discussions on matters related to conflicts on the territory of the country.
Asked about current relations between the two states and possible attempts of restoring direct flights and communication between the countries, the top Georgian diplomat said humanitarian issues and ensuring compliance with the ceasefire agreement for the 2008 war were the two major subjects discussed in the platform.
Georgia-Russia relations are limited to only one international platform, which we call the Geneva International Discussions. This is the only format where we communicate with [Russia] together with our partners”, Darchiashvili said.
“It is within this platform that we are talking about two main directions - these are humanitarian issues that concern citizens and the second [issue] is the ceasefire agreement. This is very important in order for the process and the purpose of the platform itself to give us its specific results”, he concluded.
