Seventeen units of insignificant amounts of individual state aid were issued in Georgia in 2022 for a total amount exceeding ₾30 million ($11.63mln), the National Competition Agency of Georgia announced on Tuesday.

The body made the report as part of its annual statistical update on the types of aid that involve granting of “selective economic advantage” to economic agents through transfer of budget funds, state resources or other benefits.

Batumi City Hall in the country’s Black Sea region of Adjara remained the largest provider of individual state aids, followed by its counterparts in the western city of Ozurgeti and Rustavi in the south-east of the country.

The main part of the assistance was provided in financial aid, releases from breaches of contract and transfers of operating assets, the Agency added.

The category of state aid involves volumes under ₾400,000 ($155,059) for a total of three consecutive fiscal years. For the sector of land-based cargo transportation, the air is qualified under ₾200,000 ($77,529).
