Bilateral relations between Georgia and the Netherlands was a topic of discussion between Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Dutch Ambassador to Georgia Maaike van Koldam on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Khutsishvili expressed hope that the two countries would strengthen their partnership ties.
The Georgian Finance Minister highlighted the Netherland’s support for Georgia in the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, where the Dutch executive directors are representing Georgia.
The officials also discussed the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on the Black Sea region and the wider world.
The Dutch diplomat pledged to continue supporting the Georgian government by financing the "priority fields" for the country.
The impact of the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine on the economic development across the world, on the South Caucasus region and Georgia was discussed during a meeting between Maciej Czura, the Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Regional Representation for the South Caucasus, and Lasha Khutsishvili, the Georgian Finance Minister, on Thursday.
Reforms planned in state-owned enterprises, energy market development, energy security and development of human capital were in the focus of a meeting between Lasha Khutsishvili, the Georgian Finance Minister, Yevgeniy Zhukov, the Director General for Central and West Asia of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Shane Rosenthal, the ADB Country Director for Georgia, on Friday.
The current foreign exchange rates show concerns about the Georgian lari depreciation are “groundless,” Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili said on Thursday.
Khutsishvili asserted all sources of currency inflow in the country, including export and tourism, were “functional” and “growing.”

"High economic growth should be the main focus of our economic vision for the next 10 years,” Khutsishvili stated. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said before the presentation of the development plan that Georgia has a high rate of economic growth, noting that in January-June of 2021 it amounted to 12.8 per cent.
Ongoing programmes in the areas of regional and urban development, vocational education and governance with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD) were discussed at the meeting between Lasha Khutsishvili, the Georgian Finance Minister, and Diego Colas, the French Ambassador to Georgia, on Wednesday.
Lasha Khutsishvili, the Georgian Finance Minister, and Sebastian Molineus, the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, signed a €358,500 million agreement for the Human Capital Programme for Georgia on Wednesday.
