Georgia’s annual inflation will come down to “single digits” by the end of 2022, Papuna Lezhava, the Vice President of the National Bank of Georgia, said on Monday.

Lezhava also said the Bank expected a reduction in the inflation to begin next month despite the “tense” geopolitical situation in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last month.

Geopolitical events in the region have an impact on Georgia’s economy and banking sector, which have just emerged from the Covid crisis. […] This geopolitical impact on the financial and economic sectors will be smaller than it was during the pandemic,” Lezhava said.
