The Committee on European Integration of the Parliament of Georgia on Friday supported the draft resolution on the country’s accession to the European Union.

At today's meeting of the Committee, the draft resolution was supported by representatives of the opposition, including members of the United National Movement, Strategy Aghmashenebeli and Girchi parties.

The opposition representatives said they agreed with the content of the resolution, but a “specific action plan” and parliamentary oversight was needed.

The draft resolution contains 13 points and calls on EU member states and EU institutions, as well as the Georgian Government, to take all necessary steps to accelerate Georgia's accession to the Union.
