Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday cited the country’s ranking at the top in International Budget Partnership’s 2021 Open Budget Survey, in comments highlighting his Government’s “openness and transparent work”.
In his remarks at the presentation of the 2022 report on the Government’s work, Garibashvili noted Georgia had been listed among countries with limited transparency in the index 10 years ago.
Since 2015, we have moved into the ranks of significantly transparent countries, and since 2017 we have been among fully transparent countries, while this year we ranked first in the world on the budget transparency, which is certainly a great achievement of our Government, and in general, it indicates the openness and transparent work of our Government”, Garibashvili said.
In other comments in the end-of-year summary, the PM stressed the “main task” of the Government was to “maintain peace and stability” in the country.
I would like to emphasise once again that we are managing this challenging period quite wisely and correctly, and I believe that with our common involvement, with the support of the public, we will pass through this period peacefully”, he said, adding maintaining peace and stability was “the foundation of the foundations of this welfare [and] development”.
