Russian-controlled occupation forces have erected illegal barriers near the occupation line adjacent to the village of Atotsi in central’s Georgia Kareli municipality, the Georgian state security service said on Friday.
The new development came near the village located adjacent to the country’s occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, with the state body saying it had activated the hotline operated for information exchange on developments along the line and informed the European Union monitoring mission and co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions about the incident.
It also stressed “illegal activities along the occupation line” complicated the security environment on the ground and the daily life of the local population.
The development will be discussed at the next Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting with representatives of the de facto authorities in the region, as well as at the forthcoming round of Geneva International Discussions.
