Georgian authorities discuss cooperation prospects with Wizz Air

Georgian economy minister Levan Davitashvili and Tamar Archuadze, the general director of the United Airports of Georgia, on Friday met József Váradi, the general director of Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air, in Tbilisi to discuss future cooperation, the ministry of economy announced.
Váradi flew to Georgia from Bulgaria as part of his business trip that is planned in "every strategically important country" where Wizz Air operates, the ministry noted.
His meeting with the Georgian authorities discussed the current situation in the airline market of Georgia and noted the process of its recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. Georgian officials noted increasing the number of direct flights and destinations with EU countries was their priority.

Wizz Air connects many Georgian citizens who love to travel, foreign visitors who want to come to your country, and Georgia really has a lot to see. We employ local people, create jobs, and support the services and needs that our existing base in your country requires”, Váradi said.
He added the airline “really want[s] to further develop our business in Georgia and place more aircrafts based in [western city of] Kutaisi in order to offer more destinations to travellers and employ more people".
Wizz Air has been operating in Georgia for 10 years with its base at the Kutaisi international airport servicing two aircraft. The company operates flights from Kutaisi to 22 destinations in 14 countries.
