Ukraine has had and will continue to enjoy support from Georgia “in all international platforms”, Kakha Kaladze, the secretary general of the ruling Georgian Dream party, said on Thursday in comments on the recent visit of the defence minister Juansher Burchuladze to Brussels for participation in the United States-organised Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting.
"These types of visits are very important. A few days ago, the prime minister also had a very important visit [to Prague]. Of course, we should use all international platforms”, Kaladze noted.
We must maintain peace in the country and promote economic development. Ukraine has always had and will continue to have our support in all international platforms. I want to wish the country peace and victory", the Georgian official said in reference to the ongoing war in the country.
Burchuladze on Wednesday discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the country’s need amid the ongoing Russian aggression at the gathering organised by the US department of defence that involved defence ministers and high-ranking military professionals from more than 50 countries.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has refrained from commenting on the recall of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Georgia, adding the Georgian government would “always act in the interests of our country and our people” in its decisions.
Georgian defence minister Juansher Burchuladze on Wednesday attended a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels, discussing the situation created as a result of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the country’s needs in combating the ongoing Russian offensives, as well as the security challenges facing the United States’s allies and partners.
Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi and the secretary general of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday said it was “important to maintain peace and tranquillity” in the country and promote economic development, and stressed Georgia would “not open a second front” amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Georgia has taken “specific steps” to show support for Ukraine, and the country stands with the Ukrainian people in “every possible way”, Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, said on Monday.
