Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi and the secretary general of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday said it was “important to maintain peace and tranquillity” in the country and promote economic development, and stressed Georgia would “not open a second front” amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In his remarks on domestic opposition’s criticism of government stance since the start of hostilities in Ukraine, Kaladze noted the agenda of the opposition was “against the interests” of the state.
Today, more than ever, it is important to maintain peace and tranquillity in the country and promote economic development. Georgia will not get involved in [imposing] sanctions [against Russia] and will not open a second front [amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine]”, the GD official said.
Kaladze also asserted the government involved individuals with “national, patriotic” interests who would “act as our country, our people need”.
