Cooperation between Georgia and the United States, including in the successful programmes for strengthening the capabilities of Georgia’s revenue service, was discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian finance minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Bonnie Jenkins, the United States undersecretary of state for arms control and international security.

The meeting noted the customs department of the ministry’s revenue service was “actively involved” in cooperation with the export control and border security programme of the US embassy, the ministry said.

Khutsishvili extended his gratitude to the American partners for supporting the Georgian customs administration both in terms of professional development of employees and through provision of equipment and machinery.

The American delegation also emphasised the cooperation in this format and the “effective work” of the customs department of the revenue service.

The officials underlined the importance of strengthening the partnership between the two countries, in the directions of both regional and global security.
