Georgian prosecutor general Irakli Shotadze on Monday discussed cooperation and ties with Erik Peterson, the principal deputy director at the United States department of justice, in a Tbilisi meeting, the prosecutor’s office said.
Discussing ongoing reforms at the Georgian body as part of the two sides’ bilateral cooperation to strengthen the independence of the prosecutor's office and ensure “effective activity and transparency”, both officials expressed readiness to further strengthen ties.

Shotadze said “various successful projects” were being implemented in his body with US support, including raising qualifications of employees, combating transnational and cybercrime, supporting jury trials as well as witness and victim coordinator services.
For his part, Peterson commended the “long history of cooperation” of the US justice department with the prosecutor's office of Georgia, saying “we are happy and we want to continue cooperation with the prosecutor general of Georgia and his professional team”.
