A camera trap at eastern Georgia’s natural site of Tusheti protected areas has captured a sight of a leopard, the Nacres conservation research group said on Friday.
Nacres said members of its research group had retrieved the photograph of the animal during a recent field trip, with the snap taken by the lens in August.
Footprints of leopard were last seen in the Tusheti site in 2021 and in Vashlovani protected areas in 2019.
The domestic leopard research programme was resumed in 2020 with the financial support of World Wildlife Fund.
Nacres is involved in the implementation of the programme in cooperation with the agency of protected areas and the Georgian ministry of environmental protection.
