Global conference holds Georgian Diaspora and Science Across Borders session

Within the framework of the global conference, the Global Conference for Diaspora Networks in Science, a session titled Georgian Diaspora and Science Across Borders, was held on Thursday.

Vladimir Konstantinidi, the deputy foreign minister, addressed the participants of the session with a welcome speech, reviewing the state policy towards compatriots living abroad and the programs that promote the involvement of the Georgian diaspora in the development process of the country.

Konstantinidi emphasised the projects implemented and planned in cooperation with the partner international organisations, aimed at the development of “mutually beneficial” relations with the highly qualified diaspora.

The participants of the session were addressed by Nunu Mickevich, the deputy education minister, and discussed the recent steps taken by Georgia in the direction of internationalisation of research and innovations, introducing the benefits of association with the European Union program Horizon Europe and, within its framework, the involvement of Georgian scientists working abroad in joint research projects. 

The representatives of Shota Rustaveli national scientific foundation of Georgia and the Alliance of Science and Diplomacy of the European Union, as well as the International Organisation for Migration also gave an address at the session, with Manana Tandashvili, a Georgian scientist and a professor of Goethe University in Frankfurt, presenting on the development of Georgian science in the international arena.
