State Security Service holds information meeting to raise awareness of corruption, abuse of powers in western Imereti region

Employees of the anti-corruption agency of the state security service,  on Saturday, held an information meeting to raise awareness about corruption and abuse of official powers in Georgia’s western city of Kutaisi in the Imereti region, the service said.

Representatives of local self-government and eleven municipalities of the region got acquainted with “various issues” related to corruption in the public service, including the ways of fighting against it, general anti-corruption concepts and investigations, as well conflict of interest.

The participants were also informed of the investigative statistical data of the anti-corruption agency, while discussing the practical cases, in a meeting held within the framework of the European Union and the Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance project.

The event was opened by Tamta Kachkachishvili, the head of the corruption prevention unit of the agency and Irakli Jishkariani, the head of the Western regional service.
