The European Probation Confederation (CEP) has published an article about PROBBOX, an innovative service launched by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia in six cities in December, calling the initiative a “large-scale reform” of the probation system in the country.
The article from the CEP, a confederation promoting social inclusion of offenders and development of professionalism in the field, details the necessities behind the service, as well as its functions.
It also reviews in detail the preconditions, functions, integrated services and prospects for the creation of a new mechanism for electronic control and services of probationers, as well as international promotion of PROBBOX itself.
“With PROBBOX, Georgia has embarked on a large-scale reform of the probation system, the necessity of which was caused by several key factors,” the CEP has pointed out.
The service was created by the National Agency for Crime Prevention, Execution of Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation, and presented by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
Operating with Georgian-made software, PROBBOX allows a greater anonymity for probationers and offers them various multifunctional services.
The CEP article also mentions that in late January, the justice ministry introduced the technological achievements in Yerevan, where PROBBOX was met with appreciation and interest.
