Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday said the Georgian Government had not deviated from the path that “involves joining the European family”.

The Georgian Government has not created any problems for the path we have taken - the path that involves Georgia joining the European family. Of course, we are consistent, we follow all the reforms to be implemented and the steps to be taken, which must be done on this important and difficult path. We have not made any deviations”, the GD official said.

On the other hand, Kaladze said “when wrong statements are made, [or] offensive resolutions are adopted”, the developments would be followed by a “response from our part”, in reference to the European Parliament resolution on violations of media freedom and the safety of journalists in Georgia, adopted in June.

Georgia [and] our Government is ready for friendship, [and] for deepening relations with strategic partners, but all this should be mutual”, Kaladze concluded.
