The representatives of the Georgian State Security Service, the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the units of the Ministry of Defence on Saturday successfully completed field practical interagency training designed to develop capability in combating proliferation of chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear threats.
Georgian units, with about 200 participants, were awarded with special certificates and coins, and received the “highest evaluation” of the American expert groups, in the training, organised by the United States Defence Threat Reduction Agency and hosted by the Georgian State Security Service for the first time in Georgia, the Service said.
The Service highlighted the “long-term cooperation” with the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency and said that the Georgian special services had “significantly” improved their professional skills and had been equipped with special equipment.
Major General Giga Nikoleishvili, the Deputy Head of the State Security Service, noted that the importance of coordinated work during emergency situations of the force structures had been “clearly demonstrated” during the training, and added he was “glad” that the Georgian special services had “successfully” coped with assigned tasks and had demonstrated “high-level” of training.
