NCDC: 59% of patients who died from Covid-19 had concomitant chronic diseases

The Georgian National Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday published the results of the latest report that says 59 percent of the patients who died from Covid-19 in the country had suffered from concomitant chronic diseases.

The body said the complications which caused the deaths had included pneumonia in 82 percent of cases, respiratory failure in 79 percent, respiratory distress syndrome in 29.1 percent and heart failure in 21.7 percent.

In the reporting period, 153 medical personnel also died after contracting the virus.

As of July 1, a total of 2,903,548 individuals have been vaccinated against the coronavirus in Georgia, with 2,055 cases of side effects of vaccines recorded by medical personnel.

The report covers the period between February 2020 and July 2022.
