Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said the Government would “do its best” to ensure "peace, stability and development" of the country's economy.

In his remarks over the 14th anniversary of the Russian invasion that sparked the five-day war between the two states in 2008 and the ongoing Russian occupation of two Georgian regions, the head of the Government stressed the "plan to open a second front” in Georgia amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, an intention he ascribed to domestic "traitors", had "failed and would always fail".

Garibashvili claimed there was an "attempt to hinder tourism and influx of tourists to Georgia", in reference to the recent calls of the Lelo for Georgia opposition party for imposing visa requirements for Russian and Belarusian citizens, and said such a move would negatively affect the economy and citizens of the country.

We [the Georgian Government] will do our best to ensure peace, stability and development of our country's economy. This is my main goal”, he concluded in his comments.
