Georgia’s path towards European Union membership and the importance of the country having been granted the European perspective were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and the Vice President of the German Bundestag Katrin Göring-Eckardt.
In the meeting, Papuashvili noted the “close cooperation and friendship of many years” between the two states, and extended his gratitude to the German Government for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and its “European future”.

He also stressed his Government would “actively work” on the implementation of the EU conditions for obtaining the membership candidate status.
The officials also discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for Georgia and the Black Sea region.
