A total of 188,000 individuals and legal entities have benefited from the state programme for the promotion of agricultural land owners, Georgia’s Rural Development Agency said on Friday.
The programme has offered land owners subsidies of ₾300 ($97/€90) per hectare of land since May, with owners, co-owners and the beneficiaries of land plots of between 0.25-1.25 hectares receiving the subsidy as points added to their special agricultural accounts.
The points enable them to purchase goods needed for farm-related work on the land plots.
With a total budget of ₾35 million ($11.4mln/€10.5mln), the programme aims to facilitate timely implementation of agricultural works and have a positive impact on associated costs.
