Georgia’s medieval Khikhani Fortress to have new tourist infrastructure by 2023

Visitors of Georgia’s medieval Khikhani Fortress in the Black Sea region of Adjara will enjoy new tourist infrastructure starting next year, the Adjara Tourism Administration announced on Wednesday.

The regional tourism department said a main section of the one kilometre-long footpath leading to the remains of the fortress had been expanded and prepared for installation of railings, stairs and seating areas as part of the project.

The Tourism Products Development Agency of the Adjara Tourism Department has started improving the tourist trail in order to simplify the climbing of the Khikhani Fortress, which will enable tourists to safely reach it”, the Department said.

The Administration noted visitor access to the location would be limited by the ongoing renovation works throughout this year.
