Professionals at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of Georgia have been bolstered by equipment designed to aid in detecting and dealing with weapons of mass destruction, the embassy revealed on Friday.
The diplomatic representation said the latest equipment provision, worth over $1.2 million, marked a continued support for Georgia’s relevant agencies to build their capacity against WMD threats.
This is part of an ongoing multi-year support to equipment and training program led by the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency,” the embassy said in its reveal of the transfer.
The statement also said the US Export Control and Related Border Security programme and other security and defence cooperation projects were tailored to strengthening Georgia’s capacity in security-related matters.
