Russian occupying forces have installed a lookout tower in central Georgia's Khurvaleti village, adjacent to the line marking the occupation boundary of the Tskhinvali region, the State Security Service of Georgia has confirmed on Friday.

The state body told local media outlets it had briefed the European Union Monitoring Mission on the latest incident along the administrative line.

The development comes after the SSS observed the occupation forces being involved in "intensive work" in villages of the locality on Sunday.

The agency said the issue would be raised at the next meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, scheduled to be held in Ergneti village on September 23.
