A total of 10,095 building permits covering 7.4 million square metres were granted in Georgia throughout 2021, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) revealed today.
The number of construction permits grew by 5.6 percent and the volume of the plots granted for the building permissions also increased by 42.8 percent, compared to the previous year, the statistics agency said.

In 2021, permits were granted for construction of multifunctional residential complexes, hotels, trade facilities, industrial enterprises, agricultural objects and other buildings. Geostat said multifunctional residential complexes held a “relatively large share of the permissions granted”.
Overall, 2,347 buildings on 1.7 million square metres were completed in 2021.
