Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday said the Russian military aggression against Ukraine was “of particular concern,” pointing out Georgia’s Government “strongly” supported Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.

Papuashvili, who addressed lawmakers with an annual report on the activities of the legislative body, noted the Georgian Parliament had been “one of the first” to lend support to Ukraine in the hostilities.

The Georgian Parliament was one of the first to pass a resolution on a possible military escalation in Ukraine before the start of the war. I once again express my full solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and wish them peace,” the Parliament Speaker concluded.

On April 16, a Georgian Parliamentary delegation led by Papuashvili visited the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. The Georgian officials proceeded to visit the cities of Bucha and Irpin, where civilians had been killed by Russian troops.
