The Ministry of Defence of Georgia on Wednesday hosted the children of Georgian servicemembers killed in action at the National Defence Academy in Georgia’s eastern town of Gori for events on the occasion of International Children’s Day.

Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and the Chief of the Defence Forces Major General Giorgi Matiashvili attended sports and entertainment events with the participation of dozens of children invited to the occasion, the Ministry said.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili marked International Children’s Day on Wednesday by announcing his Government would raise assistance to socially vulnerable children from ₾100 ($33/€30) to ₾150 ($49/€46).
International Children’s Day will be celebrated with events in downtown Tbilisi’s recreational parks, with visitors to be hosted at Mziuri, Kikvidze and Vaso Godziashvili parks on June 1, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced on Thursday.
Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi is celebrating International Children’s Day with a range of concerts, exhibitions, educational activities and theatre shows in recreational parks of the city.
