Georgia reports 17,066 new cases of coronavirus, weekly positivity rate stands at 17.88%

Georgia has reported 17,066 new Covid-19 cases, 5,397 recoveries, and 30 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days stands at 17.88%.

Overall 125,410 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 64,412 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 41,613 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 22,799 were PCR tests. 

1,127,234 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 986,928 of 1,127,234 patients have recovered, while 14,870 have died from the virus.

Overall, 1,607 cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the country as of January 28.

The 17,066 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 9,256 cases 
  • Adjara - 1,523 cases 
  • Imereti - 2,219 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 780 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 775 cases 
  • Guria - 240 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 865 cases 
  • Kakheti - 683 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 289 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 388 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 48 cases

118,373 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,329,744 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,216,849 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 42.4% of the country’s adult population.
