Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has said that his recent meetings in NATO headquarters in Brussels were "very successful" and confirmed that NATO's open door policy will not be reconsidered.
It was my first international visit as a parliament speaker... These meetings showed several things: first, the open door policy will not be reconsidered, and it will be confirmed on Madrid's summit in summer. Besides, we were offered to participate in creation of NATO's strategic document which will be discussed on Madrid's summit, he said.
Papuashvili added that both the Georgian government and parliament are in "full coordination" with NATO colleagues regarding the regional security challenges.
Papuashvili met with NATO Deputy Secretery-General Mircea Geoana and delivered a speech at the NATO-Georgia Commission (NGC) on an official visit to Brussels yesterday.
NATO's summit in Madrid will take place in June 2022.
