The significance of Georgia’s European Union membership application and future measures in the process were in focus of a meeting between Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, on Wednesday.
In the meeting, Garibashvili highlighted the significance of the fully-fledged membership of Georgia into the EU, with the officials reviewing the intensive cooperation between Georgia and the Union over the recent years, the Government Administration said.

Progress achieved by the country toward the implementation of economic and political reforms and democratisation was also noted at the meeting, where the parties discussed the importance of the implementation of the 2014-signed EU-Georgia Association Agreement.
The situation created in the Black Sea region as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was also noted.
Garibashvili expressed gratitude to the EU High Representative for the “solid support” of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
