Georgia will receive its first order of the Continuous Glucose Monitoring system, enabling children patients with diabetes in the country to benefit from “one of the most accurate, high-quality and officially authorised” devices for a “painless management” of the disease, Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili said on Wednesday.

Speaking to MPs in the Minister’s Hour format of the Georgian Parliament earlier today, Azarashvili said the system would be available starting late this month.

He also told MPs the budget for the 2022 State Diabetes Management Program had been increased by ₾5 million ($1.65m/€1.57m), which had enabled the Ministry to fund continuous blood glucose monitoring systems for people under 18 diagnosed with diabetes.

Azarashvili also said diabetes management services would also be made available in the Imereti, Adjara and Shida Kartli regions of Georgia.

Currently the service is available only in three medical institutions in the capital city of Tbilisi.
